FAQs

Do students or verifiers need a crypto wallet?+
No. No blockchain wallets, no gas fees, no crypto knowledge required from anyone. Verification is a URL or a QR scan.
What actually goes on the blockchain?+
Only a SHA-256 hash of the credential, a hashed institution identifier, and a timestamp — never a name, email, or grade. Everything else stays in the platform's private database.
Will our certificates look different?+
No. You upload the exact template your registrar already uses — seals, letterhead, watermarks — and only the variable data is overlaid at positions you define once. Print passes support pre-printed security paper.
What happens if a credential was issued in error?+
The institution revokes it instantly. The verify page shows a clear revoked state, a REVOKED stamp appears everywhere it renders, the student is notified, and the action is logged. Permanent by design.
Is verification just a cached "verified" flag?+
Never. Every check re-canonicalizes the credential, recomputes its hash, verifies the Ed25519 signature against the institution's public DID, and reads live on-chain status from MOI Network — in under a second.
